DAyspring Children's Village

Magliesberg, South africa

Vision
To intervene in the lives of at-risk children through Christian education and care to enable them to fulfill their God given destiny and impact the world for Christ.

,     Since 2014, Pastors Paula and Bill Butts have been a part of the Volunteer Staff at HIS School Dayspring and Dayspring Children's Village in rural South Africa. The mission is located about 1 1/2 hours northwest of Johannasberg, South Africa. At least one of the pastors tries to go each year. They serve for about a month each trip, often as Hostle (house) Parents. Sometimes they are substitute teachers for upper grades, work on administration team, do maintenance, and Pastor the staff and children. Pastor Paula also guest preaches in a regular South African Church (with a translator). Even when they are not there, Paula and Bill connect with the staff weekly by text, offering prayer and encouragements. When they are here, they give presentations about what God is doing there.

Since 2017 Equip Ministries has been in prayer and is a supporting congregation. Currently, we are helping one of the graduate learners, who lost her father, with book costs for higher education. We also send funds and supplies for normal opperation. Dayspring is an independent mission and is supported by individual churches and Christian households.
Dayspring Children’s Village History

HIS School Dayspring (HSD) at Dayspring Children’s Village (DCV) in the Magaliesberg area was established in 1983 by Charles and Wendy Paine to provide quality education and care based on Christian principles for the at-risk and vulnerable children living in the surrounding rural areas. The school, which was registered in 1984, also suffered abuse from the Apartheid Government in its early days and was even shut down by the Education Department due to ‘not enough white children’ in the school. The Founders felt that decision was not Biblical and opened it up the next day under a new name. It was with this heart and passion to see all peoples of South Africa have the same opportunities to succeed equally in life that HIS School Dayspring was birthed. We began boarding children Monday to Friday in 1991, and in 2008 we began boarding children we felt needed more intervention through the weekends.
